WGA: Carlton back to work on Monday

WGA show-runners will report back to work Monday, according to Patric Verrone, WGA West chief, at a special press conference held today at WGA West headquarters in LA. (link) This action is in advance of a 48-hour special membership vote to be conducted Monday and Tuesday to end the strike action. That vote is itself in advance of a 10-hour membership vote to ratify the new writers contract.

But the bottom line for Lost fans, WGA negotiating board member and Lost show-runner Carlton Cuse will likely be among the show-runners returning to work tomorrow. So we'll await word from ABC's building 23 at the Disney lot tomorrow, as we assume he'll begin work reassembling the film crew and cast in Hawaii, and the post-production and writing teams in Los Angeles.

Please God let them have the 8 episodes, nothing less! They said they would extend the TV season to late June, which means that Episode number 9 could be aired MAY 8TH! That's more than enough time to get everything together and the scripts written and the shows shot and done, right? I hope it's not wishful thinking...

Please, please, please!! We need more LOST!!

I say don't release 9-16 till the fall. Release them from november till christmas and start season five in february.

i was wondering...we know the crew/actors started filming this season's episodes back in august, which means it took about six months between making them and airing them. so: couldn't they write/film the remaining 8 episodes of the season when everyone goes back to work and air all of them in the fall? i assume TPTB wouldn't want to truncate their carefully-planned 16-episode season, or mess up their surely already envisioned story and scope of season 5. plus that way we wouldn't have to wait another seven months until the next season, and i'll bet the network would be psyched to have new Lost episodes during the fall sweeps...
as long we get all of season 4 the way the writers originally wanted!!!!!!

I think they should get to work right away. We've suffered enough. They've already had a vacation so no need for one during the summer. All 8 episodes please. :D

Theres about 3 and a half months to film episodes, thats plenty of time to do 8 episodes and have them aired from May to end of June.

This is mad news, I'm wrapped. All we need now is patience from the TV bigheads to show the 2nd half of season 4 a little later in the year and not ruin things by getting pushy.

this is the best news I've heard in a long time. Often times the promise of Lost on thursday is the only thing that gets me through a hard day. I know that all good things must come to an end, but it shouldn't end like this.

Thank you Thank you Thank you Carlton!

I just hope they don't rush anything to point where the show will lose out. I would gladly wait until fall to see the final 8 of season 4 if it means them retaining more intergrity than if they pumped them out between now and late june.

Geeze, you people need to settle down. Here i was thinking I was an obsessive fan, lol. The most that will happen is we have to wait until next year for the new episodes...

At least we'll get half the season at least, any more than that I view as a bonus.

omg, this could actually mean a whole 16-episode season.. anyway im glad for the writers they got what they wanted, well partly, they definitely deserve more.

STRIKE'S OVER! Yaaaay!

The chances are that yes, we will get more Lost before the end of June, more than the 8 we already have.

The main reason for this is May sweeps. They need the big shows to be on for the advertising calculations.

Great News!

This is indeed great news! Now we all need to cross our fingers and hope that ABC ok's a full 16 episodes! To not allow this would be folly.
