Separately, Howey Davenport of TV Overmind sat down with Paul and asked some questions... again nothing solid clue wise, just some snappy one-liners which I nevertheless enjoyed.
It seems though, particularly with the Alpert blog, that Scheer has been given poetic license to blog about what he wants, while also probably issuing real ARG-style clues when necessary. In that sense, I'd picturing him as a Speaker-like figure - i.e. not all his posts are going to be clues we have to analyze... there'll be jokey ones with general chat about Lost too. I'm not complaining and am looking forward to these posts, but think it's important for all his readers to understand this - I've seen people presently analyzing the Alpert blog for clues and leads... and I fear the contagious apophenia that ARGs always bring is inherent to Paul's site. We need to be analytical, but also know when a comedian is just joking around!
Here's my take on where they might be going with this ARG.
ReplyDeleteI think they may be setting up a dynamic between Paul Scheer and Ronie Midfew that parallels Jacob and Man in Black. In the podcast with Doc Artz, Paul was again emphasizing the medium of velvet and how you can really touch it (think Jacob). And with his opposition, Ronie Midfew Arts (Widmore Fine Arts) -- Widmore sent Locke back to the Island; he's arguably on MIB's side. And Alexandra Miller - Alex told Ben to do whatever "Locke" says; another link to MIB. So Paul has his paintings which you can really "touch", and they are posing a threat to Midfew.
My guess about the paintings he's going to reveal on 8/15? They will have to do with people Jacob has touched.
Am I the only one who is still a little confused as to why they chose Paul Scheer for this ARG (if, in fact, this is an ARG)?
ReplyDeleteNot to say I don't like Scheer; he's funny as hell and I love him on "Human Giant," but it just seems an odd choice to me.
Yeah I'm a little confused as to how this ARG relates to Lost University. Are there two of them?

ReplyDeleteIn Lost University there's an Art 101 seminar on the 2nd semester. Could the whole "ART" thing be heading towards an important revelation?
ReplyDeleteI'm with Taylor, I can't for the life of me understand why they chose Paul Scheer. The man is funny and has done great things with Human Giant but how does that cross into Lost? In fact, I've read through some fan comments elsewhere and they didn't even know who he was. Just taking him as another crazy fan at comic con. I guess we will see.
