I have to say that I'm feeling quite pissed off at this news. Having made a substantial emotional investment in Lost, the idea of three mini seasons with so few episodes and 8 month breaks is extremely frustrating. Of course I'll still watch, but I have no idea why they would choose to annoy the fan base like this. Three more normal seasons would be so much better.

Very good if old mysteries are answered and new ones introduced, with the show stilling maintaining its awesomeness. Also, i gives me more time to think of a new obsession once it ends. But then again, LOST fan 4 life.

Honestly, I'd prefer two full-length seasons. I don't really understand why they're going to break 48 episodes into 3 tiny little seasons...with 8 months between?! It's been hard enough making it through the SUMMER waiting for the fall Lost fix. *Sigh* Perhaps someone suffers from OCD and really wants the season to end in an even-numbered year? Ha.

I really don't know what this is going to do to their viewer base. I mean, they've already lost people changing the times and dragging things out. I know I'll be back, but I'm a die-hard fan. Those who view casually (and maybe even those who view semi-religiously) may be put off...or just forget about the show entirely. It wouldn't be difficult after dealing with its absence for 8 months.

I like the fact there is now a destined end to Lost. It will make the series much better.

I have mixed feeling about the shorter seasons. It is not the length of the seasons that I am worried about its how they are going to handle the seasons.

If they release Season 4 in January 2008, Season 5 in Late 2008, and then Season 6 Late 2009-2010. Then I will be ok with it.

If I am going to have to see 16 episodes January 2008, January 2009, and January 2009...that will be annoying and frustrating.

Personally, I don't know why the writers couldn't have done basically the same thing in two full seasons.

Just work on the notion of splitting a season into "mini-seasons" and accomplish the story points you want when you need to.

Then you would have had a perfect 2 more full seasons.

I've come to realize that Carlton and Damon know exactly what they're doing and that they're doing everything they can to make Lost all it can be. They haven't let me down yet so if the shorter seasons (and 1 more than expected) is the way to go, so be it.

An 8 month break will be tough but hopefully there'll be a lost experience to tide us over.

Yeah... I'im surprised that there are going to be 6 seasons. But I'm not unhappy about that - a lot is going to happen then! But 8 months between the seasons seems to be a very long time. Much too long :(
