He basically makes him believe that he has a choice and he should think about that choice.
He hands sayid a knife in one of the next coming episodes. Notice sayid's resistence. Almost like giving an assasin the choice to be an assasin again.
What if mr. black and jacob are essentially playing a game (like backgammon) and the people on the island are the pawns? It's like the first season each person decides their path- whether it be the dark path (sayid torturing sawyer)or the light path (Charlie throwing his drugs in the fire) Some are more undecided then others, like shannon who wants to be good but just may not be capable of it. And some think they are good (Jack) but continually lie and choose dark paths (alcohol).
Well theres some stuff to chew on here anyway lol.

Michael confronts Jin, setting him free but giving...

Michael confronts Jin, setting him free but giving him back the watch and telling him to stay away. Of course bringing up plot points is essential, but Robbie is right, these are beginning to read like synopses. Judging by your posts of the first couple episodes, you are good at finding the connections between these first looks at the characters and what will happen to them down the line. Keep that up homeboy.
