live together,die alone is the most overrated episode of lost or any other show of all time.i think it was the weakest finale.there's not a shocking end at all.i knew that the others were going to take jack kate and sawyer because i watched three minutes.i also know that locke will stop pushing the button because i watched ?.the very end was shocking when we saw the outside world,but that's it.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions about the show, but I still definitely disagree with you. The reason why a lot of people stopped watching the show after the first season was because it got way too confusing with the new mythology. I will agree with you that there were some great moments in Season 2(Desmond's episode was a great way to sum up the entire season, which for the most part, dealt with the hatch) But for the most part, the creators introduced a lot more mysteries in Season 2 that just seemed to go nowhere. Eventually a lot of these mysteries were resolved in the finale, but that certainly tested the majority of the viewers' patience with the show. Why invest time into watching a show that is getting more ridiculous everytime you watch it, and seems to be going nowhere?
Maybe I mis-spoke before about the survival-aspect. You make a very good argument against me there. I think when I was typing that, I was thinking more along the lines of character interaction in season 1. I thought the show was largely driven by its characters in Season 1, because it dealt largely with survivors of the plane crash and how they interacted with each other while trying to survive in a harsh environment. This made Season 1 a great teleivision drama. The island mythology definitely added to the show, and made it more interesting to watch, but it was still a drama. Season 2, on the other hand, dealt largely with crazy mythology, and that unfortunately narrowed the audience down to the certain group of people(like us) that have enough patience to keep watching, and faith in the writers that they will eventually resolve most if not all of the mysteries that are being introduced.
I also think that the flashbacks in season 2 started to become repetitive for a lot of the characters and were not nearly as interesting for some of the main characters. Kudos to the writers for installing flashforwards in season 4 and the crazy nonlinear storytelling in Season 5.
I will agree with you that there were some great moments in Season 2: Desmond's entire episode, the first episode was solid, Eko had a good story, Sawyer stealing the guns was classic, and finding out what happened to the tail section.
Still, I have to say that Season 1 was as close as it gets to perfect as a television DRAMA, and season 2 is not even close.

Minor correction/disagreement: I'm pretty sure they indicate in "What Kate Did" that Kate's learning that Wayne was her real father was the impetus for the murder, so she didn't learn this AFTERwards. Agent Mars makes a big deal out of asking why Kate decided to kill him when she did, and not before, and when she sees Sam Austen, she asks him why HE didn't kill Wayne when he found out he had impregnated Diane, implying that that was Kate's reason.

I'm being a little nit picky, but I think this is worth noting: When Mathias calls Penny he says, "I think we found it," not "we found them." With the season 3 and 4 finales it's safe the assume the "it" he's referring to is the island. Why does Penny look for the island? Remember, it's not until "Through the Looking Glass" that Penny has any way of knowing that Desmond is on the island.

Just to briefly comment on all the b*tching, I kinda like the brief recap this blog gave us, because it isn't the same as the full article entries: it's succinct. I've always assumed that most of the analysis would come in the comments section from us, which would be sparked by the original discussion from Sam, et al. It's the greater Lost community that gets all the great ideas, so the bulk of the theoretical discussion would come from them. Easter Eggs can be hard to spot, so why depend on one person to point them all out, difficult connections are hard to make and don't make in everyone's brain, that's why we're all here. Let's all participate; I could see having a problem with Sam if he were making bags of money off this blog, but I think I paid just as much to read it as any of you did. I'm just glad it's here; keeps me busy while I wait...

I do agree though that it'd be good to have open blog pages with nothing on them that we could comment on while we wait for actualy blog entries. Sam, Nick, CTS, Lostpedia is a dream, keep up the good work with blogging and aerticle work that you guys do, I, for one, love it...

Saying season 2 is the weakest of the season is crazy...it didn't focus enough on the survival aspect? people actually care about that? Go watch Cast Away, cuz that stuff is an aspect of Lost that really drags the show down. Too much mythology? Thats what makes this show great. You can never have too much. Sure, some episodes are better than others, but season 2 knocks it out of the park most of the time. Showing whats in the hatch, introducing Ben, Desmond & the others, the Dharma Initiative, thats what makes this show awesome, and they were all introduced this season. That said, I agree that rewatches should focus on insights based on what we know now, otherwise theres really no point.

You guys are some angry dorks man. Look I love the show too, but don't harp on some guy because he chose to focus on school and a social life rather than an internet blog about a TV show. I mean maybe some of your guys should try it. Education and friends I mean.

If you're really that concerned with the rewatch, rewatch it yourselves. I'm sure you've got them all on DVD and the new season is still on Hulu I think. Then jump on your own blog and write all the unique insights and theories you come up with that usually, if the shows history is any example, will become null and void ten minutes into the sixth season premiere.

Quit complaining that someone else isn't doing it for you. Do it yourselves. It's not that hard to watch TV. I'm sure you don't do much else.

I'd have to agree with John that season 2 til the first half of season 3 is by far the weakest stretch of the series. More misses than hits imo (I guess some parts would've been explained in season 3 if it weren't for the writers' strike). But there were still some fun episodes so I guess its ok. =P

no i actually really don't blame sam for not finishing the recaps. things get so hectic during school and its really not his fault that he didn't have time for it. at least he tried to get someone else to do it.

I think you are taking this blog too seriously. It is obviously meant to be a "rewatch" and "review" - not a theory page.

Yes its very easy to become excited by all the new developments that have cast a new perspective on to many things occuring in season 2; but surely discussion on those grounds should primarily take place on the theory pages. Alternatively, someone should post a blog specifically relating to things occuring in earlier seasons and how they have been affected by later seasons.

Surely all one can do in a few paragraphs of review is include a few observations and theories alongside the events of the episode and their personal opinions of the quality of the episode.

Wow, this post and its comments really follow Lost spirit: great characters (Sam, CTS, Brian, Nick) with strong motivations, very interesting side actors & stories (the one about the Hurleybird is really great...), suspense, cliffhangers, plot-twists, the ultimate appearence of Sam when we all thought he was "missing in action" and the contenders had already made peace...and some unsolved misteries: who is anonymous?! excellent!!! excellent!!!
