What a disaster has become the series LOST...I mean are the producers for real with the kind of crap they been throwing in the last episodes?? Sayid shooting Ben in the 70´s? Hurley working for Dharma? I think the producers lost it totally, they keep making lame twists to fix it but they keep digging and digging into a huge hole and now its impossible to get out...I think JJ Abrahams should write a book on HOW TO FUCK UP THE BEST TV SERIES EVER IN JUST 2 SEASONS, he manage to accomplish that..Whats up with the SCI-FI crap, having entire episodes boring as hell... I also feel ripped off, when they moved the island they fucked up eveerything... I also want to point out that the last episode of season 3 with Jack and Kate in the first flash foward is the best ending of a series till today with the highest ratings registered... and now look what that fascinating serie turn out to be...I hope they end the show this season, there is no need to drag another season since its obvious what the ending will be, nothing ever happened...the oceanic flight 815 will land in Los Angeles and nothing happened...thanks JJ Abrahams, u are a f****** genious!

So something interesting. Last Saturday night, one of the local channels in my area was showing a rerun of the second season of LOST. It just happened to be the episode where Mr Eko shows Locke the portion of film from the Swan video that had been removed. They add it to the rest of the film, and then proceed to watch it.

Pretty much the only thing it talks about is the computer that is used to "push the button." It says that you should only use it "push the button" and for nothing else. In fact, Dr Chang actually says that if it is used to communicate with anyone outside of the Swan station, that it will cause another incident to happen. It is moments after that when Michael begins to communicate with Walt, which we all know was most likely a ruse.

Anyway, I find it interesting that eventually the numbers aren't entered, and the failsafe has to be used to keep the island from blowing up.

So is this going to be what the incident was like? Also, it seems odd to me that Dr Chang specifically mentioned this caution, and that it was cut out and moved to another station. It kind of makes me think this part of the video was created, and/or edited because of the Losties that are in Dharmaville now. Do you think that they were trying to warn their future selves as to what would happen if they didn't push the button?

I think the statue has been there for a very long time since it probably represents Anubis and Smokie is also his sidekick that judges people. The show can't end with a bomb going off..heck we don't know where the original Others came from. We have a whole other season to enjoy.
Richard doesn't age but we don't know if he is the walking dead or not. He may well be a god on Earth and the Island was where the gods retreated when the Egyptians were conquered and the old religion abandoned.
What lies in the shadow? Probably the main opening to the Temple and that is how the Others could always remember how to find it. Who knows..it may even point to a sea cave that leads to the Temple since the statue is on the beach. The only other routes have been vents for Smokie. Only Richard seems able to enter the Temple grounds at will. Maybe the shadow points to a tunnell to use as an alternate escape route.

Yet we know there is an 'ancient' history to this island with ancient structures - the temple surroundings, the heiroglyphs in the donkey wheel chamber, etc - that must precede everything else, things that were definitely there in the earliest flashbacks we've seen (1954) and most likely far prior, as are the 'others/hostiles' themselves. Why is it so hard to suppose that a statue was one of these structures?

But we do not know when the well was built. It could have been built after 1954 yet filled before 1977. I find it hard to believe that the writers will have the statue being built LONG before everything else. I think that is what they want us to believe. I think we need ot keep in mind the patterns of flashes. ie. 1954 and 1988 we know for sure.

Ryan - I like where you are going with this, but one problem with your statue idea:

When Sawyer, Miles, Juliet, et al were flashing in and out of different time periods, we saw the many stages of the well which was built over by the Orchid station by Dharma. When they flashed into a time when neither the well nor the Orchid were present - presumably, thus, in the distant past - is when we saw the statue in its entirety. Hence, the statue was built long LONG before the well or Jughead or Dharma.

I do agree that there may be a connection between Jughead and the statue, and that perhaps Jughead is hidden near/beneath the statue for the reason you suggested: nobody will try to detonate it. But the statue itself was already there. Perhaps the 'incident', as we will see, and the bomb detonation if it occurs, is the reason why only the statue foot is left by the time Oceanic 815 crashes there.

I just realized the error in my previous post. If Jack is able to detonate the Jughead (keeping with the theory that it is in the statue) then only a foot remains. What lies in the shadow of the statue? The Jughead. Why? Because Daniel told Ellie in 1954 that they needed to encase the Jughead in concrete.

The statue was built around the Jughead. Miles was "not ready" to go to the island, because, in my theory, Llana and Bram are there to destroy the island, possibly sent by Eloise, who has some sort of remorse for sending her son back to that place. And it was Ellie who Faraday told to encase the Hydrogen Bomb in concrete, thus, Ellie will know of it, and where it is located.

Therefore, this can dismiss all Egyptian and Greco theories regarding the statue. Why? Because if you wanted to surround a hydrogen bomb in concrete, what would you form the concrete into? How about an ancient statue, one that no archeologist would allow being destroyed to see whats inside.

This also can theorise how the stature was destroyed. Jack is on his way now to detonate the Jughead, perhaps he is sucessful?

What if Richard is traveling backward in time? That's why he doesn't recognize Daniel in 77 but he does in 54. Same with when he meets Locke in the jungle. Also, how did Daniel get off the island after Rachel died? He was separated from the other Losties but never rejoined them. Odd. Also, when Sawyer demanded Daniel give him his shirt that time, Daniel immediatelly changed the subject. Maybe he had neck scars?? Maybe gunshot wounds in the chest?!?

If not coincidence, what does it mean? That when Daniel (fresh off the freighter) meets the losties that this shooting has already happened? That would mean that he must not be dead and travels back in time at some point to arrive on the freighter. Just a thought...

I think the "others" will heal him as they did Ben and then he will be technically an "other" and THAT is why he wasn't ever affected by the flashbacks like the other time travelers were. He belonged to the island. The real question is how did he get off the island in the first place? How did Eloise get off the island?

Nick123's 815 opinion Vindicated! The popular opinion that Ben had to do it because Widmore would not need someone to bring this information to him can be explained away without too much trouble. Does anyone think that Widmore would trust this data to anyone other than himself? He needed all of the evidence in his own possession in order to be sure it stayed buried. But Ben grabbed it and most likely killed Felix in the process.

The test of Miles may have had a dual purpose. It is possible that Widmore wanted to find out whether Felix had the material in his possession at the time he was killed.

The comment above is very true, and the only plausible answer is to say that as she descended into insanity her memory deteriorated also.. I know that's definitely not true and the point you make is almost definitely a continuity error, I always like to think there's a bail out for Darlton and co.
