First of all, I'd like to apologize to the readers of our blog for an inconsistent off-season. We bit off more than we could chew, as the expression goes, and we're very sorry about that. However, rest assured that there won't be any dropping of the ball during season six. We'll be right here for you, with recaps, news, and other fun, non-spoilery information. Thanks for your patience, and here's to a wonderful season 6!
Speaking of season 6: want to see a cool cast promo photo? Over at
TV Overmind, there's been a cast photo posted from USA Today that features the main cast of season three in quite an interesting pose (here's a hint: da Vinci's
The Last Supper). While there is some distortion from the fact that it's a photograph of a magazine, the awesomeness of the photo still remains. Check it out:
So, who would Judas be?
ReplyDeleteBy head positions, Judas matches up with Sayid. But the actors aren't posing in the exact same positions as the painting -- and there's an extra one on the left.
Just to point out a mistake in your post, you said it's the cast of Season three, not six :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome photo though, I can't wait to see it in better quality (it should be releases through ABC soon, right?). No doubt there will be some theories about the particular placement of the characters and comparisons to the original Last Supper. I can see this being the final image of Season 6! Episode will be titled "The Lost Supper" ;)
Hmm, well, if you look at the original Last Supper, Sayid is standing more where Judas does in the original.
ReplyDeleteBut, my question is, where's Juliet? or Charlie?
I guess after battlestar had their last supper shot before their final season, everyone feels the need to have the same thing
ReplyDeleteI am knew to the lost blogging world but Have recently have been RE-watching the seasons. I just saw the first 3 episodes of season 1 and I noticed that in all of Jacks VISIONS of his dad he is not wearing any shoes.... and if I know my lost correctly they were given to Locke to get back to the island. Am I correct on this or did anyone else no this or am i like 3 years behind? THANKS AND BE KIND! haha
ReplyDeleteWho is in the same position as Judas in the cast photo?
ReplyDeleteGabu420,
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, Jack had little time to arrange his father's funeral - or so he thought, anyway. He didn't have his dad's dress shoes, so he had him wearing white tennis shoes. After all, no one would know. When Jack visits his grandfather Season Five, he sees his father's shoes, takes them, and puts them on Locke's corpse. There you are. I don't know how significant these details are, though white shoes versus black shoes could be meaningful, given the white-black/good-evil conflict that seems to be a theme of the show.
Sam, thanks for posting. I sincerely hope you and the Lostpedia Blog crew will do a good job through this final season. Shouldn't everyone be commenting on Locke as Jesus? I think there are many fans hoping that the real Locke will be resurrected and will be the savior. I expect that to be true.
Also, it's Jack in the position of Thomas, the one who refused to believe that Jesus was resurrected until he saw him and touched him. This is recalled in the John 316 episode of Season Five and it reflects Jack's struggle to believe. Those two things seem important, but perhaps Sayid as Judas could be, too.
It's extremely hard to predict what will happen in this last season. However, I have been tracking all the references to Christianity in the show and this photo adds fuel to my fire.
Here's a better scan of the picture.

I'll add a thought to my earlier comment. Sayid is in the position of Judas here. I think it's possible that he could end up being a "bad guy" or a betrayer. As I think of that, I realize it's possible that any of these characters could end up being bad or good. Lost seems to play on that quite well. We still don't know what to make of Ben and Widmore. Which one is good and which is bad? To resolve the show, I imagine some characters will be revealed as bad and others good, and these revelations might be shocking. If Sayid is ends up being a bad guy, it would surprise us because he is a beloved character.
ReplyDeleteHowever, "bad" and "good" seem to be very simple terms. One thing that Lost has shown us is that each one of these characters is complicated and surprising, and each one has some mix of bad and good in them. Still, it seems to me that in any epic story there is a battle between good and evil and Lost will probably be no different.
Perhaps Juliet and Charlie are missing due to their having new shows. Dead must really be dead on Lost. Locke is really dead and maybe MIB is a good guy since it is hard to tell who is good or bad on Lost
ReplyDeleteHere's the image with another image where all the characters are looking towards "Locke": http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/42594320.html
ReplyDeleteI thought it was strange that Miles and Claire are switched in the second photo. There's also an empty chair in both pictures, but perhaps it's just Lapidus's chair. Anyone else notice that their all seated in front of a destroyed Swan station?
Hang on - someone deleted my post?! Apologies for disagreeing with your conduct Lostpedia but I was still making a point and not in an aggressive manner, if you want to go through and delete all posts with which you dont agree then we will all have the same theory.
ReplyDeleteBrian,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your insight on Christian wearing the white sneakers and now the black shoes being on Locke's feet! I don't think that's a coincidence (on a side note, Locke is my favorite character and I'd like him to come out at the end making Jack think twice about dismissing everything he said about the island). I really think you have something with the Thomas remark too...Jack has always been a nonbeliever, and since every second of Lost is meaningful, you know that Ben told the Thomas story for a reason. I think you're right...Jack is comparable to Thomas. I hope by the end, he believes as Thomas did.
I think the shoes issue for Jack and his father is not about good and evil, but more about "Dead is Dead" and "You can not change the past". When Christian is still no the island with the tennis shoes, Jack still has issues with his past with his father...... so in this final season, when Christian finally is wearing the shoes that Locke has, then it will symbolise that Jack has let go of his past and ready to move onto with his life/leave the island.
ReplyDeleteDid you notice that the Oceanic 6 have either brought something back or leave something behind to the island...... with the exception of Ben and Sayid. Kate left Aaron (her issue is about taking Aaron), Hugo brought a guitar (his issue is about bringing bad luck to Charlie), Sun brought back Jin's ring (her inability to let go of Jin), and Jack's.
I'm not sure what to make of the shoes, really. I was just answering the question posed earlier. But the white and the black could easily show that Locke is against Christian, and that Jack might have to make a choice in the future. It seems to me that Jack should be meeting the undead Christian this season.
ReplyDeleteAs to the taking or leaving behind... what I find interesting is that a number of vessels have landed on the island: the Black Rock, Rousseau's craft, the Beechcraft (with Yemi and the Virgin Mary heroin statues), 815, and 316. I believe we will see the Black Rock landing this season.
From what we know of these vessels, it seems that most had prisoners on them, bound by chains or cuffs (the slaves of the Black Rock, Kate, and Sayid) and/or a musical instrument (violin with Rousseau's group, right? - and the guitars on 316 and 815). And at least the three planes had dead men on them: Yemi, Christian, and Locke. And somehow those dead men come "alive" on the island (though they may just be the Smoke Monster impersonating them).
Could it be that Richard Alpert was on the Black Rock and that he was dead when the ship wrecked on the island? Could we see other familiar faces on the Black Rock?
Maybe I'm trying way to hard to make connections, but there's something going on here.
Has anyone considered that MIB/Jacobs nemesis may actually be Jacob himself. We've already had incidents where the same person exists with his other self in the same timeline (locke with richard when he tells him he needs to go through the bushes and repair his leg) and sawyer (when he travels back to when Claire is having the baby). So maybe MIB is Jacob in the future. And he possibly needs to kill Jacob (himself) to perhaps correct the timeline???
ReplyDeleteWe found these minted from 1988 to the present the design on the obverse of these coins was taken from the classic walking liberty
